Robert W Ditmer
With a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, Robert W. Ditmer began his career as a Research Librarian for Rahenkamp, Sachs, Wells & Associates, a Landscape Architecture/Land Planning firm in Philadelphia, PA, in 1973. His work in this capacity included working as a ghostwriter for the President of the company, writing and editing articles for publication in such magazines and journals as House & Home, Landscape Architecture Magazine, Urban Land Magazine, the Journal of the American Planning Association, and Plan Canada. As Director of Information Resources he also directed research in innovative land management techniques, resulting in work published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the National Association of Home Builders, and the Council of Planning Librarians.
In 1980 Mr. Ditmer made a change of career, beginning a long-time career in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll and human resources. Much of his writing during that period was technical in nature, preparing employee manuals and financial administration handbooks. In 1998 he became an active participant on two payroll and bookkeeping forums, so in 1999 he joined the American Payroll Association and qualified as a Certified Payroll Professional in 2000. Since then he has been writing articles for other payroll professionals on the subjects of payroll, labor law, and human resources. A number of his articles are posted on Payroll-Taxes.com, and he has had articles published in PAYTECH: The Official Publication of the American Payroll Association. As a result he was awarded the 2003 Citation of Merit from the American Payroll Association for contributions to Membership Publications and advancement of the Payroll Profession. In addition, he has spoken at conferences and participated in audio conferences on such subjects as fringe benefits, qualified moving expenses, and the Pennsylvania Earned Income Tax.
Mr. Ditmer and his wife, Robin, currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. He operates his own business, RWD Financial Support Service, preparing individual income tax returns and providing bookkeeping, payroll, and other financial support to small businesses.
